Innovation is our forte. Kendig Keast Collaborative prides itself on taking a “leading edge” approach to crafting innovative, yet practical, planning solutions. In our view, there is no one "magic bullet" planning or regulatory solution. Instead, durable plans and codes must be rooted in applied analysis and experience. That is, we help our clients express their visions and challenges, and then deliver thoughtful, consensus-supported solutions to directly implement the vision and address the challenges. This approach has driven our planning innovations since the inception of the firm.

The firm and its principals and staff continue to be leaders among the planning profession for their development and successful application of planning approaches and tools. Beginning with Lane’s book, PERFORMANCE ZONING (American Planning Association, 1980), the firm has been a leader in publishing numerous articles, speaking at state and national conferences to document successful case study approaches, and advancing planning concepts and principles. Some of our notable innovations include traffic sheds, market performance zoning, community character based planning, and a number of new planning measurements.
