| Jonathan Grosshans joined as a planner following several years of urban planning experience in the municipal and nonprofit sectors. Mr. Grosshans adds experience related to development regulations and comprehensive plans, with an emphasis on land use and environmental policy. His areas of focus include community planning and linking development codes to environmental sustainability. Incorporating green building standards and policies into comprehensive plans and zoning codes is now part of all KKC projects.
Current project management roles include comprehensive plan efforts in Sherman, TX; Ponca City, OK; and Carbondale, IL. However, there are specialty roles in all areas of KKC’s work portfolio. Current work also includes providing contract planning services for the Village of Indian Creek, IL. These services include writing zoning ordinance revisions, reviewing development proposals, and facilitating the hearing process.
He also uses his technical experience with GIS, 3D simulations, and website design. As a supplement to a larger planning and decision-making process, visualization products enhance the level of project understanding and public discourse. Highlights of this computer simulation work were featured in the October 2008 issue of Planning Magazine, “From Vision to Simulated Reality.” Likewise, Jonathan’s role in coordinating GIS analysis and map production results in an enhanced planning process.
Before joining KKC, Jon worked with the City of Chelsea, Massachusetts on the site plan review process for redevelopment issues of transit-oriented development, waterfront design, and affordable housing. He also worked at the Center for Neighborhood Technology in Chicago, Illinois on transportation planning and policy issues that spanned the Northeastern Illinois region.
